Software Development Manager

Job Description and Responsibilities:

• Translate concepts into comprehensive system designs, architecture diagrams, and database schemas, while leading the team in writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
• Oversee the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, research and development, effort estimation, sprint planning, implementation, code reviews, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
• Ensure timely project delivery with high-quality, stable releases by minimizing bugs, ensuring correct logic implementation, and maintaining production readiness.
• Proactively identify risks and potential issues, adjusting project plans and implementing mitigation strategies as necessary.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation such as system designs, workflows, procedures, and architecture diagrams.
• Communicate project updates regularly to stakeholders and clients through progress reports, utilization reports, root cause analyses, and presentations, as required by senior management.
• Drive continuous improvement in development team performance through expectation setting, collaborative planning, performance evaluations, coaching, counseling, and, when necessary, disciplinary actions.
• Recognize and address skill or capability gaps within the development team, offering actionable feedback, workarounds, and development plans to enhance team effectiveness.
• Lead technology research initiatives by staying informed on emerging technologies, trends, tools, and cloud services, ensuring projects leverage the most current and effective solutions.
• Maintain professional and technical expertise by participating in training sessions, workshops, and pursuing relevant certifications.
• Perform additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Filipino.
• Additional language skills in technical-level Mandarin are a plus.
• 6+ years of experience in software development using Java/Spring Framework, JavaScript (NodeJS, VueJS), Python, and PHP.
• 6+ years of experience with private, public, and hybrid cloud environments.
• 6+ years of experience with REST APIs, relational databases, NoSQL databases, and Microservices Architecture.
• 6+ years of experience troubleshooting, debugging, and analyzing system designs and source code.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and analyzing flow charts, sequence diagrams, and other software development documents.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and solve ambiguous problems with full ownership.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 6+ years of experience managing developer teams.
• 10+ years of experience in software development using Java/Spring Framework, JavaScript (NodeJS, VueJS), Python, and PHP.
• 10+ years of experience with REST APIs, relational databases, NoSQL databases, and Microservices Architecture.
• 10+ years of experience troubleshooting, debugging, and analyzing system designs and source code.
