Nagios Monitoring

POSITION OBJECTIVE/ JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Monitoring Analyst is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the optimal performance of the organization's monitoring infrastructure. This role combines deep technical monitoring expertise with administrative capabilities to configure, maintain, and enhance monitoring tools and processes. The Senior Analyst will act as a subject matter expert (SME) for monitoring solutions, lead incident detection and escalation efforts, mentor junior analysts, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system observability and reliability.

· Configure and maintain monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, MOMA, BMC, Splunk, Dynatrace, Solarwinds, etc.) to ensure effective coverage of critical systems and services.

· Act as primary point of contact for escalated monitoring alerts and ensure timely incident response and resolution.

· Develop and tune alert thresholds to reduce false positives and improve actionable alerting.

· Perform root-cause analysis and contribute to problem management initiatives.

· Administer the monitoring platform including user management, roles/permissions, integrations, upgrades, and patching.

· Create and maintain monitoring dashboards, custom scripts, and automated alert rules.

· Collaborate with vendors and internal teams for tool enhancements and upgrades.

· Ensure compliance with monitoring standards, security policies, and best practices.

· Define and implement monitoring standards, SOPs, and best practices across the organization.

· Partner with application, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to expand monitoring coverage.

· Drive automation initiatives for alerting, reporting, and remediation.

· Document monitoring configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.

· Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior monitoring analysts.

· Work closely with NOC, IT Operations, and Engineering teams to ensure proactive system health management.

· Participate in on-call rotation as needed.

Primary Technical abilities:

1.     Monitoring Specialist Task Proficiency

a.     Knowledgeable in Windows Server Operating System and Cloud (Azure, AWS)

b.     Knowledgeable in Linux Operating System;

c.     Monitor assigned task(s) including the scheduled reports globally;

d.     Strong knowledge of monitoring tool configuration, dashboarding, and integrations. (Nagios, App Dynamic, Elastic, SolarWinds and other Monitoring tools.)

e.     Scripting experience (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Shell) for automating monitoring tasks.

f.      Knowledge of SNMP, APIs, and log/metrics-based monitoring

2.     Teamwork

a.     Ability to flexibly adjust to help other Monitoring Support Specialist in case of unavailability or emergency cases to ensure continuity of service.

b.     Exercise turnover of activities to the next team member on duty.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION (Requirements):

a.     Education

· Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).

b.     Experience

· years of experience in IT monitoring or NOC operations, with at least 2+ years in a senior/lead capacity.

· Proven experience administering monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, MOMA, BMC, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, SolarWinds, Prometheus, or similar).

· Experience with Linux/Windows system administration, networking basics, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).

e.     Work hours and working conditions

● To provide 24x7 services to the company, Central Monitoring Team will work on different shifts

● Some days may be heavy while others may be light. Longer hours may be required when a need arises.
