We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President Ongoing Model Validation.

In line with our ambition to be the world's leading international bank, HSBC has committed to develop the highest or most effective standards for Financial Crime Compliance and deploy them globally on a consistent basis.  The Global Sanctions Policy mandates that all customers are screened at on-boarding and periodic intervals, following changes to customer information and when the Official Lists and other applicable Local Lists are updated. Automated or manual screening is conducted using HSBC's mandated automated customer screening solution which generates alerts for investigation, verification, and follow-up as necessary.

In this role, you will:

  • Monitoring, controls, and analytical review including explain of the internal back testing and ISDA back testing end-to-end inputs and results at counterparty level
  • Resolving data quality issues affecting the accuracy of the back testing results while working with SIMM Model Quant, Product Control and Traded Risk
  • Managing remediations with affected counterparties to ensure additional margin is calculated as agreed with the counterparties
  • Enhancing the RNIS (Risk not in SIMM) target operating model and establishing control framework
  • Working in close collaboration with SIMM Model Quant (Group Risk Analytics), front office stakeholders and CTB (Change the Bank) team to identify, escalate and resolve underlying issues.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • A degree / qualification in mathematics, finance, accountancy, business management or previous experience in risk management (Market Risk) specifically in VaR process and its variant (i.e. Historical simulations, parametric VaR, full reval)
  • Good understanding and experience of financial products especially OTC derivatives (eg. Swaps, Options)
  • Good understanding and experience of market risk metrics and measures
  • Good understanding and experience of Initial Margin Calculation / SIMM / BCBS 26

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Proficiency in Python or willing to learn Python
  • FRM or CFA certification
  • Market risk & Product Control
  • Knowledge Derivatives Products, Model Validation, Statistical
  • Value at Risk/ Team management experience (UMR) strong excel, VBA skills
