Pharmacy Assistant

As a pharmacy assistant in a BPO setting, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive the right medications to help them manage their health conditions. The main responsibility will be to encode medications accurately and efficiently in accordance with established departmental protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties assigned by a licensed pharmacist.
• Read and interpret physicians' orders received in the pharmacy and transcribe same into the pharmacy computer medication profile.
• Coordinate narcotic delivery to each nursing unit; ensures that records are kept accurate.
• Prepares in accordance with pharmacy law and standard of pharmacy practice outpatient RXs (prescription) to be dispensed after pharmacist approval.
• Attend and participate in pharmacy technician meetings to exchange ideas to achieve the department's goals.
• Assist with pharmacy billing by using appropriate computer functions, reason codes, and dates for charging and crediting.
• Maintain competency in caring for patients across all demographics and maintain competency explicitly indicated by orientation guidelines for a particular unit.
• Understand prescription and nonprescription medications' use and side effects to treat joint disease states.
• Assist the Pharmacist in assuring the quality of pharmaceutical services.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experienced in working in the pharmaceutical or medical field
• Knowledgeable about the duties and responsibilities of a Pharmacy Technician
• Flexible and can multitask
• Knowledge in Pharmacology
• Accurate typing skills
• Microsoft-proficient
