Biodiversity Zonal Officer

Location: Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte

Work Setup: Onsite | Direct Hire

Gross Monthly Rate: ₱20,000.00 – ₱40,000.00

(Inclusive of relocation, laundry, rice, medical, and clothing allowances)

Job Summary:

The Biodiversity Zonal Officer will support field-based biodiversity monitoring and conservation activities in compliance with the Verra's Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and the Climate, Community, and Biodiversity Standard (CCB). The role involves assisting in biodiversity research, supervising field teams, and ensuring the accuracy of ecological data gathered within assigned zones. The position reports directly to the Biodiversity Department Head.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and implement biodiversity monitoring and conservation initiatives aligned with VCS and CCB requirements.
  • Manage and mentor a team of biodiversity field staff within the assigned zone.
  • Conduct monitoring activities, including camera trapping, avian surveys, and species assessments.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze biodiversity data related to field activities.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of biodiversity findings.
  • Oversee training and field mentoring for monitoring staff and community partners.
  • Coordinate closely with the Biodiversity Department Head to align zonal operations with overall program goals.
  • Contribute to capacity-building and community engagement activities related to conservation and biodiversity.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in biodiversity surveys, avian research, camera trapping, or field program supervision.
  • Experience in biodiversity or carbon-related projects is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with data analysis of biodiversity data (camera traps, distance sampling, point counts, etc.).
  • Proficiency in statistical and mapping/visualization software (e.g., R, QGIS).
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to conservation, climate action, and indigenous/local community engagement.
  • Fluency in local languages relevant to Mindanao is an advantage.
