Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven
Tax Lawyer
to provide expert legal advice on tax-related matters, ensure compliance with Philippine tax laws and regulations, and support the company in strategic tax planning and risk management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in taxation, corporate law, and regulatory compliance, with a keen understanding of BIR rules and rulings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel on tax matters affecting the company, including income tax, VAT, withholding tax, and local business taxes
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with the National Internal Revenue Code, BIR regulations, and other applicable tax laws
  • Represent the company before the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Court of Tax Appeals, and other regulatory agencies when needed
  • Advise on the tax implications of business transactions, mergers & acquisitions, investments, and restructuring initiatives
  • Lead or support internal audits and tax assessments; handle documentation and responses for BIR audits and LOAs
  • Draft and review legal documents such as position papers, tax rulings, protest letters, and contracts with tax implications
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess impact on the business; recommend appropriate actions
  • Collaborate with finance, accounting, and other business units to ensure proper tax compliance and reporting
  • Provide training or updates to internal teams on relevant tax matters

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Laws / Juris Doctor degree
  • Member in good standing of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax law, either in a law firm, government agency (e.g., BIR), or in-house corporate legal team
  • Strong knowledge of Philippine tax laws, BIR processes, and jurisprudence
  • Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills
  • Experience handling tax audits, rulings, or litigation is a strong advantage
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
