What you'll do
- Cut, shape, and edge lenses to fit frames based on prescriptions or exact specifications.
- Operate manual and automatic edging machines with accuracy and care.
- Maintain, calibrate, and repair eyewear — from lens replacement to frame adjustments.
- Smooth and finish glass edges using automated abrasive belts.
- Repair or replace damaged frames and components for customers.
- Operate optical measuring equipment to determine bridge size, eye size, pupillary distance, vertex distance, and optical centers for custom eyewear.
- Prepare work orders and oversee daily optical lab activities to ensure timely and precise production.
What we're looking for
Knowledge in:
- Lens cutting and edging machines (manual & automatic)
- Optical glass characteristics (refractive index, dispersion, chemical properties)
- Materials and production processes for optical products
- Regulatory requirements for eyewear products
Skills in:
- Cutting and shaping lenses to exact specifications
- Performing maintenance, calibration, and repairs on eyewear
- Operating precision optical measurement tools
- Managing workflow in an optical lab
