About the Role

The Security Engineer will help build and support the Copeland Product Security Program by collaborating with product development teams, testing security strategies, and proactively identifying vulnerabilities across hardware, software, and industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform product security testing, including:
  • Black box reverse engineering (hardware and firmware)
  • Vulnerability research and exploit development
  • Fuzz testing and protocol reverse engineering
  • Conduct manual penetration testing on:
  • Mobile apps (iOS & Android)
  • Web apps
  • Cloud infrastructure
  • Network systems
  • Facilitate threat modeling with application, infrastructure, and product teams
  • Deliver security training and awareness for internal development teams
  • Conduct security analysis for ICS/OT environments, hardware/software supply chains
  • Maintain documentation and metrics for the product security program

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in embedded systems/IoT security, red teaming, or penetration testing
  • Experience with embedded hardware testing, debug interfaces (UART, JTAG, SWD), peripheral buses (SPI, I2C)
  • Binary reverse engineering of ARM, MIPS, PowerPC firmware using tools like IDA Pro, Ghidra, Binary Ninja
  • Red Team exercise planning and execution
  • Fuzz testing industrial communication protocols (Wi-Fi, BLE, PROFINET, MODBUS, OPC UA, etc.)
  • Knowledge of secure libraries, embedded Linux (RTOS a plus), network, IoT, web, and industrial protocols
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • High ownership, urgency, and drive
