Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Ambulance Driver to join our emergency response team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting patients safely and efficiently to medical facilities while ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and protocols. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to operate heavy equipment, and a commitment to providing high-quality service in high-pressure situations.
Duties
- Safely operate the ambulance vehicle in various traffic conditions while adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Communicate effectively with emergency medical personnel and dispatchers to coordinate patient transport.
- Load and unload patients, ensuring their safety and comfort during transit.
- Maintain the cleanliness and operational readiness of the ambulance, including routine inspections and minor maintenance tasks.
- Assist in moving patients using appropriate lifting techniques and equipment.
- Document patient information accurately during transport, including vital signs and any changes in condition.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless transitions of care for patients upon arrival at medical facilities.
- Stay informed about local traffic patterns, road conditions, and alternative routes to optimize response times.
Ambulance Driver Required Skills
- Excellent driving skills, including the ability to navigate through traffic safely and efficiently.
- Strong understanding of traffic laws and regulations, as well as defensive driving techniques.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations, such as during emergencies or heavy traffic.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, their families, and healthcare professionals.
- Physical stamina and strength to lift and move patients safely, as well as the ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Problem-solving skills to address unexpected situations and make quick decisions.
- Time management skills to prioritize tasks and ensure timely responses to emergency calls.
- Compassion and empathy for patients and their families, demonstrating a patient-centered approach
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or College Level equivalent is typically required.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Updated NCII Certification
- Completion of an accredited ambulance driver training program is preferred.
- Physical ability to meet the demands of the job, including lifting and moving patients.
- Prior experience in emergency medical services or a related field is an advantage but not always required.
