Structural Engineer

His main function in the organization is to be responsible for analyzing configurations of the basic structural components of a building or other structure, calculating the pressures, stresses and strains that each component, such as a beam, column, slabs, and foundations, that will be subjected to dead loads, live loads and lateral forces due to seismic and wind factors. He must be able to liaise with other engineering designers, including architects-in-charge, to agree on safe designs and their fit with the aesthetic concept of design. He must be able to examine structures at risk of collapse and advising how to improve their structural integrity, such as recommending removal or repair of defective parts or rebuilding the entire structure. Be able to prepare working/erection drawings for reinforced concrete and structural steel, technical calculations, specifications and computer models of structures as submittals, for various issuance purposes. He must be able to assess actual site condition, analyse and approve results of tests by third parties as the project may require. Must have strong people skills to be able to liaise with building contractors and subcontractors to ensure that quality and integrity of design is achieved during construction. Very proficient in utilizing structural design software and must be able to interpret results of design accurately. He will be designing various projects local and abroad with strict adherence to latest local (and British design-optional) codes. He must possess strong and relevant technical background and can work with minimal supervision or under a dynamic team environment. He must be able to solve complex challenges related to his field of expertise and ensures the technical accuracy of his submittals. He must be able to handle pressure and can deliver within deadlines. He must be able to embrace the firm's culture and adhere to its mission and vision to attain mutual growth. REQUIREMENTS

• Degree holder in Civil Engineering from a reputable Engineering University (licensed preferred)
• Minimum of 5-7 years of  relevant and diverse technical and design experience in structural engineering
• Proven ability to develop and produce structural designs using STAADPro, ETABS, and SAFE (knowhow in MIDAS is a plus).
• Proven ability to develop studies, reports, technical specifications, regulatory permit applications, construction estimates, and other project documents.
• Well-versed in the content and interpretation of the latest NSCP th Ed.) codes.
• Highly proficient (speed, accuracy, and technical knowhow) in utilizing 2D CAD software
• Experience in developing utilities and standards to improve the functionality and production efficiency of STAADPro, ETABS, and SAFE.
• Working knowledge in Visual Basic for Applications in Microsoft Excel (macros programming) is an advantage

• Willing to work under pressure and extend long hours to meet deadlines
• Design experience in High-rise Buildings/Structures (30 storey or more) is an advantage.
• Very proficient in oral and written communication.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work in the field for site inspection, data gathering, and on-site observation of work progress
• Ability to travel outside local area, depending on local workload and project location
• Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs
• Ability to read construction drawings, diagrams, printed materials and computer screens
• Ability to record data clearly and write passages for reports, letters, emails, etc.
• Ability to safely work at heights
• Ability to safely use and/or operate ladders, scaffolds, lifts and other access equipments
• Ability to understand and appreciate safety training specific to numerous workplace and construction hazards
• Ability to safely work in a variety of occupational hazards at work
• Ability to drive and safely operate a motor vehicle
