Coconut Field Inspector

Job Summary:

The Nuts Field Inspector is responsible for inspecting nut crops in the field and/or post-harvest environments to ensure compliance with industry standards, government regulations, and quality specifications. This role involves assessing crop quality, identifying pests or diseases, verifying harvesting and handling practices, and reporting findings for corrective action or approval.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct field inspections of nut crops during various stages of growth and harvest.
• Evaluate nut quality based on established grading standards (size, moisture, color, defects, etc.).
• Identify and document signs of pest infestation, disease, contamination, or physical damage.
• Collect and prepare samples for laboratory testing when necessary.
• Monitor and verify harvesting, storage, and transportation practices.
• Record inspection findings and complete reports in a timely and accurate manner.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal agricultural regulations.
• Communicate effectively with farmers, processors, and internal teams regarding inspection results and corrective actions.
• Stay updated on current quality standards, industry trends, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Food Science, or a related field is preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in agricultural inspection, quality control, or a related field (experience with nuts is a plus).
• Knowledge of USDA, HACCP, or other relevant food safety and grading standards.
• Ability to work in outdoor environments and under varying weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to field sites as needed.
