A Reefer Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of refrigerated containers, trailers, and other refrigeration equipment. This role ensures that reefer units operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company standards and industry regulations. The technician works to minimize downtime, prevent cargo loss, and support logistics operations by keeping refrigeration systems in optimal condition.
Key Responsibilities:- Inspect, diagnose, and repair refrigeration units on containers, trucks, and trailers.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on reefer equipment to ensure reliability.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant-related issues.
- Monitor and test reefer unit performance to ensure proper temperature control.
- Document all maintenance and repair work, keeping accurate service records.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Handle refrigerants properly in accordance with environmental regulations.
- Respond to emergency repair requests to minimize operational disruptions.
- Coordinate with operations, dispatch, and logistics teams regarding equipment readiness.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a safe working environment in the workshop and on-site.
- High school diploma, vocational course, or equivalent (Technical/Engineering background preferred).
- Certification in refrigeration and air-conditioning (TESDA or equivalent) is an advantage.
- Solid knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems of reefer units (Carrier, Thermo King, etc.).
- At least 1–2 years of experience in reefer repair and maintenance (preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Physically fit and able to work in varying weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
