heavy equipment mechanic

Job Description:

Responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heavy mining equipment such as excavators, loaders, bulldozers, dump trucks, and other machinery. Ensures hydraulic systems, engines, transmissions, and other mechanical components are in good working order to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on heavy equipment.
• Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot hydraulic systems, engines, transmissions, and undercarriages.
• Repair or replace defective parts using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Conduct regular testing of hydraulic pressures and system performance.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and mining regulations.
• Collaborate with operators to identify mechanical issues early.

Job Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalent; vocational/technical course in heavy equipment maintenance preferred.
• At least 2–3 years of relevant work experience in mining or related heavy equipment industry.
• Strong knowledge in hydraulic systems, diesel engines, transmissions, and braking systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and hydraulic schematics.
• Skilled in using diagnostic tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Physically fit and able to work in mining field conditions.
• Willing to work in shifting schedules and remote mine sites.
