Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting with ingredient preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting kitchen sections as needed. This role is designed to help young culinary professionals build a strong foundation in kitchen operations. Under the guidance of senior chefs, the Commis 2 learns core cooking techniques, hygiene protocols, and teamwork in a high-paced culinary environment.
  • Assists in core food preparation including washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning ingredients.
  • Assist in basic food prep including washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning ingredients.
  • Set up and maintain mise en place for assigned tasks.
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, tools, and equipment regularly.
  • Support Commis 1 and senior chefs in maintaining section readiness.
  • Ensure all food storage and handling complies with safety standards.
  • Assist with unloading and storing kitchen deliveries.
  • D ispose of waste and maintain kitchen cleanliness according to daily cleaning schedules.
  • Follow instructions closely and maintain a positive attitude toward learning.
  • R otate between kitchen sections as required for cross-training and support.

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of kitchen operations (prior experience is a plus).
  • C ompletion of culinary school training or food prep internship preferred.
  • Food handler's certificate (according to local health regulations).
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
