Software Engineer

Role description

Overview:

This position is suited for an experienced professional who undertakes challenging research, design, and software development tasks within a software functional area or product line. The role provides direct input into project plans, schedules, and methodologies for cross-functional software products. The position involves software design, typically across multiple components, and includes developing skills to mentor junior team members. The individual will collaborate with others to communicate with users/customers and translate their requests into viable solutions.

Accountabilities:

• Convert complex business requirements and specifications into functional design and coding logic that facilitate business functions, while adhering to global project design standards and templates.
• Work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders to define customer requirements and system interfaces, assess available technologies, and develop solutions for complex modules or subsystems.
• Collaborate with quality assurance teams to address and rectify defects promptly.
• Implement continuous integration, delivery, and deployment practices effectively.
• Implement and adhere to development processes, coding best practices, and conduct thorough code reviews.
• Successfully establish development processes, coding best practices, and conduct comprehensive code reviews.
• Engage actively in the Agile software development process while collaborating with key stakeholders.
• Provide accurate status reports to supervisors and management.
• Deliver sizing estimates for complex modules or subsystems.
• Offer sizing estimates for moderately complex modules or subsystems.
• Write code proficiently in key programming languages and technologies, including C# .NET, SQL, ETL, Teradata, AWS, and MySQL.
• Participate in pair programming with squad members to support their learning and development.
• Develop mentoring skills to guide less senior software developers in development methodologies and optimization techniques.

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of diverse work experience in web application development.
• Advanced knowledge of object-oriented programming using C# with the .NET 4.0 Framework.
• High proficiency in web application technologies, such as ASP Classic, ASP.NET, and MVC.
• High proficiency with relational databases such as SQL and Oracle; experience with MySQL or Teradata is a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, and AWS.
• Strong familiarity with development tools such as Visual Studio, TFS, and VSTS/ADO.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external technology resources.
• Extensive experience with the Agile development process.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
