Position Overview

The Chemical Technologist is responsible for supporting laboratory operations through the preparation, analysis, and testing of samples using established methods and procedures. The role involves operating laboratory instruments, assisting chemists in analytical work, ensuring accurate documentation of results, and maintaining compliance with laboratory quality standards and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine laboratory analyses of samples (raw materials, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food products) using both standardized classical methods and advanced instrumentation.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments such as balances, pH meters, UV-Vis spectrophotometers, titrators, and other basic analytical tools.
  • Prepare chemical solutions, reagents, and standards accurately for use in testing.
  • Assist in sample collection, labeling, handling, and proper storage to ensure integrity of results.
  • Record observations and test results clearly and accurately in laboratory logs, worksheets, or electronic data systems.
  • Support chemists in performing advanced analytical procedures and research-related tasks.
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure accuracy and reliability of data.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, strictly following laboratory safety guidelines and PPE requirements.
  • Participate in laboratory audits, proficiency testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), ISO/IEC 17025, and other regulatory standards applicable to the facility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, or related scientific discipline.
  • PRC licensed is an advantage.
  • Background in laboratory practices, analytical chemistry, or materials testing.
  • Knowledge of laboratory quality systems, GLP, and ISO/IEC 17025 standards is an advantage.
  • Hands-on experience with common laboratory instruments (balances, pH meters, titrators, UV-Vis, etc.); familiarity with advanced instruments (HPLC, GC, AAS, ICP) is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and adherence to protocols.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and under minimal supervision.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
