The Veterinary Technician plays a critical role in providing high-quality medical care to animals and supporting the overall operations of a veterinary clinic or hospital. They work closely with veterinarians, assisting in the examination, treatment, and care of animals. The Veterinary Technician is responsible for various clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring the well-being and comfort of animal patients and providing support to the veterinary team.Other duties include overseeing confinement protocols and treatments, assisting in surgeries, and operation of diagnostic tools and machines.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Excellence:
- Care and monitoring of confined patients, including vital checks, IV maintenance, medication administration, and hygiene tasks.
- Collect, prepare, and process laboratory samples (blood, urine, tissue) and perform basic laboratory tests with accurate record-keeping.
- Perform diagnostic imaging, including ultrasound tests, ensuring excellence in diagnostic procedures.
- Provide assistance during minor and major surgical procedures, showcasing expertise and precision.
- Perform minor surgical procedures such as castration and dental prophylaxis under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian.
- Administer vaccinations to patients under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian.
- Answer client inquiries regarding prescribed medications and ensure excellent customer service.
Empathy:
- Monitor animal patients during procedures and recovery, prioritizing their safety and comfort.
- Prepare patients and equipment for surgical procedures, emphasizing compassionate care.
- Maintain patient records, ensuring privacy and regularly updating pet owners on their pet's status.
- Address client inquiries and concerns with empathy, ensuring overall satisfaction.
Integrity:
- Administer confined patients' medications and recommended patient food with integrity and accuracy.
- Manage inventory of veterinary supplies, medications, and equipment with honesty and diligence.
- Stock and organize examination rooms and wards with integrity in maintaining a well-organized environment.
- Maintain and clean veterinary equipment, ensuring functionality and safety.
- Follow clinic protocols, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines consistently.
- Assist coworkers with any assigned duties, contributing to the overall integrity and effectiveness of the company.
- Assistance to coworkers for any other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the management/heads from time to time, within the category of employment in the organization and for the effective implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the company
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree of any related course to Veterinary Industry
- If undergraduate or graduate of any course at least 6 months to 1 year clinical experience
