Job Brief
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Paraplanner with strong skills in preparing Statements of Advice (SOAs) using a provided template. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in Australian accounting or financial planning environments and be comfortable interpreting financial data, applying compliance requirements, and accurately drafting reports and documentation for clients.
Responsibilities
- Prepare Statements of Advice (SOAs) in line with client instructions using a pre-established firm template
- Review financial documents and data inputs to complete accurate and compliant SOAs
- Liaise with financial advisers or senior accountants to clarify inputs or resolve queries
- Ensure all supporting documentation is attached and properly referenced
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant compliance standards
- Maintain clear records and version control of SOA documentation
- Support other accounting tasks if required, including reconciliations, reporting, or file reviews
Requirements
- Degree-qualified in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience in an Australian accounting or financial services firm
- Proven experience preparing Statements of Advice
- RG146 compliant or equivalent qualification in financial advice
- Familiarity with financial planning concepts, superannuation, insurance, and investment recommendations
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow templates with accuracy
- Ability to interpret data from multiple sources and enter information efficiently
Desirable
- Previous experience using financial planning software (e.g. XPLAN, Midwinter, or similar)
- Exposure to or understanding of ASIC and AFSL compliance requirements
- Familiarity with document preparation for clients in the wealth management or advisory sectors
- Capacity to handle sensitive client information with discretion
Software Proficiency
- Microsoft Office (particularly Word and Excel)
- Xero (for general accounting tasks, if applicable)
- CRM or document management platforms used by financial advisers (optional)
