Packaging Engineer

Basic Function:

-Under general supervision, makes paste – ups and mock – ups to serve as model packaging materials for printers.

-Assigns packaging material item number, creates and maintains packaging material master data.

-Prepares and maintains updated packaging orders, standard packaging instructions and batch packaging records.

-Prepares protocols, conducts, evaluate and analyzes results and prepares reports of packaging trials.

-Implements recommendations in packaging validation reports and endorsements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Reviews / evaluates technical packaging specifications from clients, New Business Development or Account Management Division to determine feasibility of packaging.

  2. Evaluates submissions of artwork, digital proofs, bromide proofs, prepress / press proofs, or mock –ups and prepares paste – ups reflecting the results of the evaluation.

  3. Prepares mock – ups, as needed, based on clients' request, to serve as model packaging materials to be used as reference by suppliers or for cost quotations.

  4. Creates and maintains packaging materials (PMs) item number, material code and master data.

  5. Files and maintains Packaging Materials (PMs) technical drawings, documents and certificates.

  6. Prepares and maintains updated Packaging Orders (POs) and Standard Packaging Instructions (SPIs) and Batch Packaging Records (BPRs).

  7. Maintains only current packaging orders and batch packaging records in the master file.

  8. Maintains files of superseded Packaging Orders, Standard Packaging Instructions and Batch Packaging Records for historical purposes.

  9. Prepares Packaging Trial Protocols (PTPs).

  10. Coordinates with production on schedules for packaging trials.

  11. Conducts packaging trials, evaluates results/findings, and prepares Packaging Trial Reports (PTRs) accordingly.

  12. Implements recommendations stated in Packaging Validation Reports and Packaging Validation Endorsements.

  13. Provides technical support for special projects and/ or queries from management or clients.

  14. College Education with BS Packaging Engineering, BS Chemistry or Chemical Technology, BS Chemical Engineering, BS Pharmacy/BS Industrial Pharmacy, and passed the Government Licensure Examination.

  15. At least 1 Year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
