- Monitor work areas where hot work (welding, cutting, grinding, etc.) is being performed to identify potential fire hazards.
- Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and company safety procedures.
- Maintain a constant watch during and 30 minutes after hot work activities have ceased, or longer as required by policy.
- Inspect the area for flammable materials and ensure proper fire-retardant blankets, shields, or guards are in place.
- Be fully familiar with the use and location of fire extinguishers and firefighting equipment.
- Respond immediately to any signs of smoke, fire or unsafe conditions.
- Report incidents or safety violations to the supervisor or safety officer.
- Assist in the evacuation of personnel in the event of a fire or other emergency.
- Complete and submit fire watch logs or checklists as required by site policy.
- Work closely with welders, safety officers, and site supervisors to maintain a safe working environment.
