Monitor work areas where hot work (welding, cutting, grinding, etc.) is being performed to identify potential fire hazards.
Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and company safety procedures.
Maintain a constant watch during and 30 minutes after hot work activities have ceased, or longer as required by policy.
Inspect the area for flammable materials and ensure proper fire-retardant blankets, shields, or guards are in place.
Be fully familiar with the use and location of fire extinguishers and firefighting equipment.
Respond immediately to any signs of smoke, fire or unsafe conditions.
Report incidents or safety violations to the supervisor or safety officer.
Assist in the evacuation of personnel in the event of a fire or other emergency.
Complete and submit fire watch logs or checklists as required by site policy.
Work closely with welders, safety officers, and site supervisors to maintain a safe working environment.
