CNC Machinist

• Machine Setup: Mould Maker (Machinist) - EDM are responsible for setting up the EDM machine for specific jobs. This includes selecting the appropriate electrode (tool), securing the workpiece, and configuring machine parameters such as voltage, current, and pulse duration.
• Operation: Operating the EDM machine is a core part of the job. Machinists monitor the machining process, ensuring that the electrode follows the programmed path accurately. They also make real-time adjustments to maintain precision and quality.
• Quality Control: Maintaining high-quality standards is essential. Machinists conduct regular inspections of the workpiece to ensure it meets the required specifications. This often involves using measuring instruments such as micrometers, callipers, and optical comparators.
• Material Handling: Loading and unloading workpieces into the EDM machine is part of the daily routine. Machinists must handle materials carefully to prevent damage and ensure accurate machining.
• Electrode Management: Managing and maintaining the electrodes (tools) used in EDM is critical. This includes changing electrodes when they wear out or break, as well as ensuring proper electrode alignment and condition.
• Maintenance: Routine maintenance of the EDM machine is necessary to keep it in optimal working condition. This includes cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn components as needed.
• Troubleshooting: Machinists are responsible for identifying and resolving issues that may arise during the EDM process, such as electrode wear, surface finish problems, or electrical discharge issues.
• Safety: EDM is a process that involves electrical discharges, and safety is a top priority. Machinists follow strict safety procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to safety guidelines for EDM.
• Documentation: Keeping detailed records of machining parameters, job setups, and quality inspections is crucial for traceability and quality control.
• Communication: Effective communication with supervisors, team members, and quality control personnel is important to ensure that production goals and quality standards are met.

Qualifications:

• A diploma or certificate in engineering, machining, or a related field.
• Experience in EDM operation, programming, and maintenance.
• Able to use any of EDM software, such as Esprit, Fanuc, Sodick, or Mitsubishi.
• Knowledge of EDM materials, processes, standards, and quality control protocols.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Willing to work on shifting schedule as the need arise
