The Sanitary Design Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and implementing sanitary and plumbing systems for commercial, residential, institutional, industrial, and land development projects. This role ensures compliance with local and national codes, prepares technical specifications, and provides engineering support throughout design and construction phases. The engineer collaborates closely with project teams to deliver functional, safe, and efficient water distribution, drainage, and waste management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare sanitary/plumbing designs, including water distribution, sewer, vent layouts, storm drainage, and floor drain layouts, in compliance with approved designs and code requirements.
- Perform calculations for water demand, pump schedules, pipe sizing, rainwater tanks, drainage pits, septic tanks, and STP (Sewage Treatment Plant) flow rates.
- Develop design concepts, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
- Conduct site inspections and collect data to determine actual site conditions.
- Coordinate with project teams and attend design coordination meetings.
- Respond to RFIs/RFAs and provide technical clarifications.
- Provide ongoing technical support to project teams during construction.
- Apply knowledge in STP design and operation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Sanitary, or Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Licensed Engineer (Professional Civil/Plumbing Engineer preferred).
- Minimum 4–5 years of relevant experience in sanitary/plumbing system design.
- Strong knowledge of local plumbing codes, standards, and regulations.
- Proficient in plumbing design software, CAD, and engineering calculations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Experience in site inspections, project coordination, and technical reporting.
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
