Position: Software Developer

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM UK Time (tentative)

About the Company:

The client is a UK-based holding company for a group of long-established, profitable businesses. The average age of their operating companies is 19 years, and none of them rely on external funding - they are not a start-up.

They use code across our businesses to automate processes and extend the functionality of existing systems.

You'll be joining a small, collaborative team, working directly with one of their founders and an experienced developer. This is not a ticket-taking outsourcing role — you will have real ownership, the chance to propose improvements, and scope to influence how our systems evolve.

What You'll Do

Maintain, refactor, and build tests for our existing Python codebaseDevelop new features and tools to improve efficiencies at the operating companiesBuild lightweight front-end interfaces for internal toolsCollaborate directly with founders and existing team to shape solutionsUse AI-powered development tools (e.g. Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) as part of your workflow

You'll have considerable freedom to make changes to production code and the opportunity to put your own ideas into practice.

Their Tech Stack

Languages: Primarily Python (95%+ of code)Front-end: Occasional work with web frameworks for UI toolsPlatforms: Airtable (experience useful, but not required)Practices: Testing, automation, and continuous improvement

What We're Looking For

Strong Python skills (3+ years of professional experience preferred)Comfortable with version control (Github) and modern development workflowsExperience writing tests and improving codebases over timeEagerness to learn and experiment with new tools, especially AI-assisted codingClear communicator who enjoys collaborating in a small, distributed teamProficiency in Flask and Pandas/NumPy for Python development projectsWilling to take the assessment as part of the selection process
