Full Stack Developer

About the Role
We're seeking experienced Full Stack Software Engineers to join our growing Product and Engineering organization. Our task to modernize our legacy Ruby on Rails platform while building next-generation solutions to service the child-care market in Australia.

You'll play a crucial role in helping to modernize our existing child-care managementsystems, used by hundreds of centers throughout Australia. This is an opportunity to work with a profitable, established SaaS company undergoing significant technical transformation; where your contributions will directly impact both our technical direction and customer experience.

What You'll Do:
Legacy System Modernization
● Navigate and maintain our existing Ruby on Rails 2.3.5 / Ruby 1.9.3 monolithic
application
● Analyze, debug, and optimize complex SQL queries on large Postgres databases
(1TB )
● Identify opportunities to extract functionality into modern microservices
● Support the migration from self-hosted Postgres to AWS Aurora RDS

Modern Development
● Build new API-first backends using Golang, C#, or Java
● Develop responsive, modern frontends using Vue 3 with Nuxt or Vite TypeScript
● Design and implement microservices architecture with proper separation of concerns
● Contribute to CI/CD pipeline development and automated testing strategies

Collaboration & Delivery
● Participate in Pitch development and daily standups (10am AEST)
● Work autonomously while maintaining clear communication with the distributed team

● Document technical decisions and contribute to knowledge sharing
● Collaborate with customer service and QA teams to resolve production issues

Required Skills & Experience
Technical Requirements
● Backend: Proficiency in at least one of: Golang, C#, or Java for new development
● Legacy: Willingness and ability to work with Ruby on Rails (experience preferred but not mandatory)
● Frontend: Strong experience with (Vue 3 preferred) and TypeScript
● Database: Advanced SQL skills and hands-on Postgres experience
● Infrastructure: Comfortable with Linux (Ubuntu 24.04 LTS) and command-line tools
● Version Control: Proficient with Git command-line operations
● API Design: Experience building RESTful APIs and understanding of API-first
development

Professional Requirements
● Communication: Excellent written and verbal English skills (mandatory)
● Autonomy: Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
● Problem Solving: Strong analytical and debugging skills for both legacy and modern systems
● Time Management: Ability to balance maintenance work with new feature development

Nice to Have
● Experience with event-driven architectures and message queues
● AWS services experience (especially Aurora, Lambda, API Gateway)
● DevOps experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines
● Previous experience modernizing legacy monolithic applications
● Knowledge of childcare or education software domains
