About the Team & Business Line
The Risk and Control Group ('R&C') is a group-level, global team, that operates within the Group Risk Management function and was established to assist the Citco group of companies in accomplishing its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluating and reporting on the effectiveness of first and second lines of defense, including performing independent and objective assessments of the control environment.
R&C is independent of first line of defense functions and reports directly to the Chief Risk Officer, and seeks to adhere to the standards of best professional practice, such as those published by professional bodies.
The R&C has team members based in Amsterdam (The Netherlands), Cork and Dublin (Ireland), Jersey City (USA), Manila (The Philippines) and Toronto (Canada).
Your Role
We are looking for a Risk and Control Supervisor for the Citco Banking Division Operational Control Management ('Bank OCM') function whose key responsibilities include:
- Reporting to the relevant Risk and Control Managers (AVP/VP/SVP), the R&C Supervisor will cultivate and maintain excellent relationships with management and staff in the business, Bank OCM and R&C colleagues.
- Involvement in the onboarding and development of operational control testing processes, including participation in meetings with the business and Local Bank OCM counterparts to understand new processes and controls, review of test scripts / work programs and preparation of working paper templates.
- Involvement in the day-to-day execution and review of operational control effectiveness testing for the Citco Banking Division, including responsibility for completion of work papers, and escalation of relevant matters identified in the testing process to R&C management and Local Bank OCM in a quality and timely manner. This will include independent collection of test supporting documentation, proactive identification and investigation of issues on tests completed (both design gaps / control deficiencies and control operating effectiveness issues), and providing value-adding recommendations on issues noted.
- Engage with the business and Local Bank OCM to further improve the control environment in a collaborative manner.
- Involvement in the periodic review and monitoring of risk events and action plans logged by the Citco Banking Division and providing instructions / observations to the business to ensure that the details recorded are of good quality and in line with the work instructions.
- Involvement in the review and documentation of Risk and Control Self Assessments for various Citco Banking Division processes.
- Working collaboratively with the business contacts whose processes are being tested.
- Involvement in the preparation and review of ongoing reporting to senior management on the results of the operational control effectiveness testing and other administrative activities.
- Continually seek to improve the existing testing and other administrative processes, ensuring that tasks are performed in an effective and efficient manner across the control framework.
- Foster risk and control awareness across the organization by working with management and first and second line of defence functions.
- Complete the tasks assigned by the R&C management as to achieve R&C's goals and objectives.
- Work collaboratively with other team members within R&C to cover the scope and objectives in an effective and efficient manner.
- Supporting and leading other R&C or Group Risk Management initiatives (i.e., working groups / workstreams).
- Supports Management in recruitment activities (as required), onboarding new team members and evaluating progress through regularization. Providing directions and guidance to existing staff (working on the same project or as part of workstreams) through detailed review of output. Based on this review, evaluating the skills and training needs of existing team to effectively execute ongoing workstreams.
- Maintaining expertise and pursuing training to keep abreast of new and proposed developments in the areas of responsibility and considers the impact on the company through various industry organizations.
About You
- The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or related field from an accredited college / university.
- Philippine's Certified Public Accountant (CPA) professional qualification is preferred.
- A relevant and recognized professional qualification such as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and / or equivalent level within Risk Management is desirable.
- Four to eight years' experience of working in an external audit firm or a progressive risk management / assurance / internal controls / audit function of a financial institution / financial services and / or alternative investments industry.
- Experience with a Big 4 audit firm is a plus.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite is expected.
- Excellent written and spoken English is a pre-requisite.
