Job Summary
The IFT Materials Planner in a food manufacturing setting is responsible for planning and coordinating the timely movement of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods between production sites, warehouses and distribution centers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage interfactory transfer (IFT) schedules of raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and finished products based on demand forecasts, production plans, and inventory levels.
- Coordinate with production, QA, Warehouse and Logistics teams to ensure compliance with food safety standards and FIFO/FEFO protocols.
- Monitor inventory across all factory and distribution locations to prevent stock-outs, overstock, or expired goods
- Create and maintain IFT orders in ERP systems(e.g., SAP, Oracle, D365), ensuring correct material codes, quantities, shelf-life dates, and batch traceability
- Track and troubleshoot transfer execution issues such as delays, shortages, temperature excursions and documentation errors
- Analyze historical transfer data to improve planning accuracy and propose inventory optimization strategies
- Generate regular reports on IFT performance, inventory aging, wastage, and service level metrics
Competency:
- Graduate of Industrial Engineering, Supply chain management or equivalent.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in material planning, inventory control, or logistics in a food manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with ERP and planning systems (SAP, Oracle, D365)
- Working knowledge of food safety standards, shelf-life management, and traceability requirements
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel or data analysis tools
- Detail-oriented with excellent coordination, communication, and follow-through skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven and quality-focused environment
