Construction Labourer – Job Responsibilities
(working to assemble wall and roof frames, Cladding, and Window Installation)
1. Position Overview
The Construction Labourer supports site supervisors, carpenters, and installers by performing general and skilled labouring tasks associated with the construction and installation of building wall and roof frames, external cladding systems, windows installation, internal wall cladding. This role is critical in maintaining site efficiency, safety, and quality standards across all projects.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Site Preparation and Setup
- Assist in preparing and maintaining a clean, organised, and safe work site.

- Unload, move, and position materials, tools, and equipment as directed.

- Erect and dismantle temporary structures, scaffolding, and access platforms under supervision.

- Ensure all work areas are free from debris and hazards at the end of each day.
B. Framing Support
- Assist carpenters and installers with steel frame erection.

- Accurately measure, cut, and position materials under direction.

- Secure frames and fixings using appropriate tools and methods.

- Maintain alignment and structural integrity throughout framing processes.
C. Cladding Installation Assistance
- Prepare wall surfaces for cladding installation.

- Handle and stage cladding materials such as fibre cement, Colorbond, or composite panels.

- Assist in fixing cladding sheets, trims, and flashings according to specifications.

- Seal joints and edges neatly to ensure watertight finishes.

- Maintain care when handling coated or pre-finished materials to avoid damage.
D. Window Installation Support
- Assist in window fitting.

- Help position and secure window frames and glazing units accurately.

- Apply sealants and insulation materials under supervision.

- Clean frames and glass upon completion to maintain a professional finish.
E. Tools, Equipment & Material Handling
- Operate basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently.

- Report faulty tools or unsafe equipment immediately.

- Load, transport, and store materials carefully to prevent damage.

- Follow safe manual handling practices at all times.
F. Work Health & Safety
- Comply with all company and site safety policies and procedures.

- Attend daily pre-starts, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.

- Wear appropriate PPE (boots, hard hat, gloves, hi-vis, safety glasses, hearing protection).

- Report hazards, near misses, and incidents to the Site Supervisor immediately.

- Keep access areas clear and maintain housekeeping to reduce risk of injury.
G. Teamwork and Communication
- Work under the direction of the Site Supervisor, Leading Hand and Factory Manager.

- Communicate respectfully with co-workers, trades, and clients.

- Follow instructions carefully and ask questions when unsure.

- Support a positive, safety-focused team environment.
3. Skills and Attributes
- Reliable, punctual, and physically fit for outdoor work.

- Basic understanding of construction tools and materials.

- Willingness to learn assembling of frames, cladding, and window installation techniques.

- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

- Ability to work safely and follow directions consistently.
4. Qualifications and Requirements
- White Card (Construction Induction).

- Driver's licence and reliable transport.

- Experience in residential or light commercial construction preferred.

5. Reporting Structure
Reports to: Site Supervisor / Leading Hand / Factory Manager

Liaises with: Carpenters, Installers, and Subcontractors
