This role is crucial for ensuring that particular elements of a project, such as structural connections or concrete pours, are executed in full compliance with approved plans and code requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed, hands-on inspections
within a certified discipline (e.g., concrete, structural steel, or welding). - Verify
that all materials and workmanship conform to project specifications and building codes. - Conduct
required field tests (e.g., concrete slump tests, rebar placement checks). - Document
inspection findings accurately in daily reports. - Communicate
any non-conforming items to the project team and the Special Inspector of Record (SIOR). - Maintain
a high level of technical knowledge in their specific inspection area.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Special Inspector.
- Must have experience with
USACE
or
NAVFAC
projects. - Relevant certifications in one or more special inspection categories (e.g., ICC, AWS).
- Strong attention to detail and a thorough understanding of their specific discipline's codes and standards.
