Job Description: Senior Operations Manager
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Operations Manager to oversee and manage the daily operations of our precision engineering manufacturing facility. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective production of high-quality products, optimizing production workflows, managing the production team, and meeting customer demands. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in manufacturing processes, quality control, and team management, along with a strong commitment to maintaining safety and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Production Process Management:
- Lead and manage the production process from start to finish, including planning, scheduling, and execution to meet customer orders, deadlines, and production targets.
- Oversee production line activities and ensure the proper allocation of resources to maintain efficiency and high-quality standards.
- Resource Planning and Optimization:
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize the utilization of manpower, equipment, and materials in the production process.
- Collaborate with other departments, including procurement and logistics, to ensure the timely availability of materials and ensure that production goals are met.
- Quality Assurance and Control:
- Ensure that all products meet customer specifications, industry standards, and internal quality control procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on quality enhancements, process optimization, and error reduction.
- Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Ensure the manufacturing facility adheres to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety and well-being by enforcing safety protocols, conducting safety audits, and addressing any potential hazards.
- Cost Control and Efficiency Improvements:
- Monitor production costs, including labor, materials, and overhead, to ensure the manufacturing process remains within budget.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve resource utilization, and increase production efficiency to enhance profitability.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the production team to achieve high levels of performance and productivity.
- Set clear performance goals, provide feedback, and support employee growth through training and development initiatives.
- Process Optimization and Lean Manufacturing:
- Continuously assess and improve manufacturing workflows to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing techniques and other best practices to optimize production efficiency, reduce cycle times, and eliminate waste.
- Collaboration with Supply Chain:
- Work closely with procurement, logistics, and supply chain teams to ensure the timely delivery of raw materials and finished goods.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers and vendors to ensure smooth material flow and timely production.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production output, quality metrics, and machine downtime.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management that highlight production performance, trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Customer Focus and Collaboration:
- Coordinate with the sales and Program Management Team to understand customer requirements and align production schedules to meet customer demands.
- Ensure timely delivery of products while maintaining a high level of quality and meeting customer expectations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree, Postgraduate, or Professional Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a production manager or supervisory role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in precision engineering.
- Strong experience in managing production teams and implementing production strategies to drive results and secure commitment from team members.
- Strong knowledge of production processes, quality control standards, and Lean Manufacturing principles. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Value Stream Mapping is highly advantageous.
- Ability to analyze and optimize production processes for greater efficiency and reduced costs.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive, energetic, and dynamic attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Proficiency in using production management software and MS Office.
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English
