The Sushi Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality sushi dishes, ensuring freshness, proper food handling, and excellent presentation. The role requires strong knife skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare all types of sushi including maki, nigiri, sashimi, and specialty rolls.
- Ensure all ingredients (fish, vegetables, rice, sauces) are fresh, properly stored, and prepared according to standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station at all times.
- Follow proper food handling, safety, and sanitation procedures.
- Monitor stock levels and assist in inventory of sushi ingredients and supplies.
- Create visually appealing presentations for all sushi items.
- Assist in menu development and creation of new sushi rolls when needed.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and serve orders in a timely manner.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by preparing consistent, high-quality sushi dishes.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sushi Cook or similar role.
- Excellent knife skills and knowledge of sushi preparation techniques.
- Understanding of Japanese cuisine and food safety regulations.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
