The Sushi Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality sushi dishes, ensuring freshness, proper food handling, and excellent presentation. The role requires strong knife skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare all types of sushi including maki, nigiri, sashimi, and specialty rolls.
  • Ensure all ingredients (fish, vegetables, rice, sauces) are fresh, properly stored, and prepared according to standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station at all times.
  • Follow proper food handling, safety, and sanitation procedures.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist in inventory of sushi ingredients and supplies.
  • Create visually appealing presentations for all sushi items.
  • Assist in menu development and creation of new sushi rolls when needed.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and serve orders in a timely manner.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by preparing consistent, high-quality sushi dishes.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Cook or similar role.
  • Excellent knife skills and knowledge of sushi preparation techniques.
  • Understanding of Japanese cuisine and food safety regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
