Job Description Summary

The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by implementing and enforcing health and safety policies, conducting risk assessments, providing safety training, and ensuring compliance with occupational safety regulations and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain health and safety programs.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
  • Organize and conduct safety training sessions for employees and contractors.
  • Ensure that all safety equipment and PPE are available, in good condition and properly used.
  • Maintain safety records and prepare documentation required for regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with management and workers to develop a culture of safety.
  • Stay up-to-date with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
  • Lead emergency response drills and coordinate evacuation plans.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience as a Safety Officer on construction or industrial project sites.
  • Familiarity with local safety regulation and standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Good report writing and documentation ability.
  • Strong leadership and enforcement skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Willing to start ASAP.

Work Environment

  • Full-time based on-site based on a construction or project site (may involve fieldwork exposure).
  • May require PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when accessing active site areas.
  • Standard workweek (Monday to Saturday) but may require working overtime or night shifts based on project requirements and deadlines.
