Position Summary:

A Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all costs related to building and civil engineering projects. They work to ensure that the project is completed within its budget and timeline, while maintaining quality standards. Their duties span from pre-construction cost planning to post-construction cost management, including risk assessment and contract administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including labor, materials, and overheads.
  • Project Planning & Scheduling: Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and schedules to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Tendering & Contract Administration: Assist with tender preparation, evaluate bids, and manage contracts with clients and suppliers.
  • Cost Control: Monitor project expenses, track changes in cost, and provide recommendations to control project costs.
  • Value Engineering: Conduct value engineering exercises to optimize project costs while maintaining quality and performance.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential financial risks and work to mitigate them, ensuring that the project stays within budget.
  • Procurement Management: Oversee the procurement of materials, services, and subcontractors in line with project specifications and budget.
  • Payment Certification & Invoicing: Certify payments to subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring adherence to contractual terms and cost agreements.
  • Site Visits & Reporting: Regularly visit the construction site to track progress, resolve issues, and ensure that costs are being managed efficiently.
  • Final Accounts & Closeout: Prepare and finalize the financial closure of the project, ensuring that all costs are accounted for and documented.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • With or Without License.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost estimation software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical skills.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Familiarity with project management software and tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks effectively.
  • At least 2 – 5 years in the Construction Industry
  • Computer skills AutoCAD
