The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our database systems, as well as the development and maintenance of data pipelines and creation of reports. This role requires extensive experience with various MS SQL tools (such as SSIS, SSRS and SSAS), as well as the ability to collaborate with business and cross-functional teams to support organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Database Design and Development
Design, develop, and implement database structures, schemas, and stored procedures to support reports/analytics development and other ad-hoc data services
Database Administration
- Manage and maintain MS SQL Server databases, including installation, configuration, and upgrades
- Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement performance tuning strategies
- Utilize monitoring tools to analyze database performance and identify areas for improvement
- Optimize database queries, indexes, and configurations to enhance performance
- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability
- Implement and maintain database security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry regulations
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of database security and access controls
Data Pipeline Development
- Design, develop, and implement SSIS packages for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications
- Optimize SSIS packages for performance and scalability
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data integration and ETL processes
- Monitor and maintain existing SSIS packages, ensuring data integrity and reliability
- Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in data integration and ETL technologies
Report Development (SSRS)
- Design, develop, and deploy SSRS reports based on business requirements
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate them into technical specifications
- Optimize report performance and ensure data accuracy and integrity
- Maintain and enhance existing reports, ensuring they meet evolving business requirements
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to report generation and data retrieval
- Implement best practices for report design and development, including version control and documentation
- Provide training and support to end-users on report usage and functionality
- Stay updated with the latest SSRS features and enhancements to continuously improve reporting capabilities
Report Development (SSAS)
- Design, develop, and deploy multidimensional and tabular models in SSAS
- Create and manage OLAP cubes, including defining measures, dimensions, and hierarchies
- Optimize SSAS models for performance and scalability
- Collaborate with business analysts to gather requirements and translate them into effective data models
- Develop and maintain documentation for SSAS solutions, including data models, processes, and workflows
- Monitor and troubleshoot SSAS performance issues and implement necessary improvements
- Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in data analytics and business intelligence
Documentation
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and changes
- Generate reports on database performance, usage, and security for management review
Collaboration and Support
- Work closely with IT teams, developers, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and provide technical support
- Mentor junior database administrators and developers, providing guidance and best practices
Continuous Improvement
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to database management and development
- Propose and implement improvements to database processes and systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in database administration and development, specifically with MS SQL Server
- Strong knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures, and data modelling and database design principles
- Experience with data warehousing concepts and methodologies
- Experience with performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and database security practices
- Extensive experience with SSIS development
- Proven experience in developing reports using SSRS and SSAS
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with data governance and data quality best practices
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Familiarity with cloud-based database and reporting solutions (e.g., AWS) is a plus
- Willing to work 3 days onsite and 2 day WFH
- Willing to work in Mandaluyong
