Description We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator/Engineer to support one of our key clients in the Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure industry. In this role, you will be directly assigned to the client's team, where you'll be responsible for issuing, reviewing, and responding to proposals. You'll combine your technical expertise with cost estimation skills to help develop accurate, competitive, and timely proposals that align with both customer needs and internal capabilities. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed estimates and technical proposals for EV charging station projects
  • Review RFQs, RFPs, and project documentation to determine scope, cost drivers, and proposal strategy. 
  • Develop RFP/RFQ responses for qualified solicitations 
  • Gain expert level understanding of RFP/RFQ response software Responsive IO 
  • Work closely with the client's sales, engineering, and operations teams to gather requirements, technical specifications, and pricing information. 
  • Identify labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor needs, and permitting costs for accurate budgeting. 
  • Assist in developing bill of materials (BOMs) and preliminary system designs or layouts for proposed EV charging solutions. 
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain up-to-date pricing and lead time information. 
  • Ensure all proposals are submitted on time and meet quality, accuracy, and compliance standards. 
  • Support post-proposal clarification requests and updates, including scope revisions and change orders. 
  • Track and document proposal status, client feedback, and win/loss data to support continuous improvement. 
  • Stay up to date on EV charging technologies, codes, standards, and industry trends to ensure best-in-class estimates.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Strong analytical and estimation skills for developing accurate project proposals
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret complex RFQs, RFPs, and technical documentation
  • Proficiency in preparing cost estimates, bills of materials (BOMs), and labor or material breakdowns
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing and presenting proposals
  • Effective collaboration with sales, engineering, and operations teams to gather technical and pricing information
  • Time management and organizational skills to meet strict submission deadlines
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects or proposals simultaneously
  • Experience using proposal management or RFP response software (preferably Responsive IO)
  • Knowledge of EV charging infrastructure, systems, and installation requirements
  • Familiarity with cost estimation methods for engineering, construction, or electrical projects
  • Understanding of industry codes, safety standards, and permitting processes
  • Experience conducting site surveys and developing infrastructure upgrade estimates
  • Skilled in vendor and supplier coordination to obtain accurate pricing and lead time data
  • Knowledge of change orders, scope revisions, and post-proposal clarification procedures
  • Competence in tracking proposal metrics, client feedback, and performance data
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
  • Commitment to staying current with EV technologies, standards, and industry trends
