Excavation Crew

An excavation crew member's job description includes operating heavy machinery like excavators and backhoes, performing manual labor such as digging and loading materials, ensuring job site safety and compliance with regulations, and collaborating with the rest of the crew to complete projects according to plans.

Key responsibilities involve site preparation, grading, trenching to the correct depth, loading trucks, and performing routine equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities:

• Equipment operation: Safely operate heavy machinery such as excavators, backhoes, and skid steers for digging, grading, and moving materials.
• Manual labor: Assist with physically demanding tasks, including hand-digging, carrying and loading materials, and helping with site cleanup.
• Site preparation and execution: Perform trenching, backfilling, and grading to the correct depth and grade according to project plans.
• Safety and compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, conduct pre-operational equipment checks, and be aware of potential hazards like utility lines.
• Material handling: Place pipes and other materials as required for water, sewer, or storm systems.
• Maintenance and upkeep: Perform minor maintenance and upkeep on equipment and ensure the work site is clean and organized.
• Team collaboration: Work effectively with other crew members, supervisors, and subcontractors, communicating and coordinating as needed.
