Junior Geologist

A Jr. Geologist in nickel mining supports senior geologists in collecting, logging, and analyzing geological data to evaluate ore deposits and assist in mine planning and production. Key duties include fieldwork such as geological mapping and core sampling, using geological software for modeling, preparing reports, ensuring safety compliance, and collaborating with mining engineers to optimize extraction processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Fieldwork & Data Collection: Conducts geological mapping, soil and rock sampling, and surveys to identify mineral deposits.
• Drill Core Logging: Assists in the logging and sampling of drill core, meticulously documenting geological features and preparing samples for assay to determine ore grades.
• Geological Modeling: Utilizes specialized software to create and maintain geological models and databases, updating them with new data from mapping and drilling.
• Data Analysis & Interpretation: Analyzes geological data to assess ore quality and quantity and interpret geological features to inform mining decisions.
• Safety & Compliance: Participates in safety meetings, adheres to safety regulations, and ensures compliance with environmental standards and company protocols.
• Reporting: Prepares detailed daily, weekly, or project reports summarizing geological findings and interpretations for management and engineering teams.
• Collaboration: Works closely with mining engineers, surveyors, and other team members to integrate geological information into operational plans and optimize resource extraction.
• Production Support: Provides on-site geological guidance to mining operations, including advising on excavation methods and ore-waste discrimination.

Common Activities

• Mapping active mining faces: Identifying geological structures and rock types in active mining areas.
• Core house operations: Managing the core library and ensuring proper sampling protocols are followed.
• Hydrogeological monitoring: Assisting with hydrogeological surveys and data gathering.
• QA/QC implementation: Ensuring that geological data collection, analysis, and interpretation meet quality standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Php30, Php35,000.00 per month
