About the Role

We are looking for a project-based investment analyst or due diligence consultant to support us in reviewing business acquisition opportunities. The role involves evaluating financial health, assessing risk, and helping determine if an investment or acquisition is viable.

You will work closely with the founder and our small investment team to analyze financials, audit documents, and provide high-level recommendations that guide our purchase decisions.

Location: Remote

Setup: Project-Based, Part-Time

Start Date: ASAP

Compensation: Based on project scope and experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze financial statements, including AFS, ITR, POS reports, and bank records
  • Evaluate net margins, revenue consistency, COGS trends, and expense breakdowns
  • Conduct light or deep due diligence, depending on the business size and deal stage
  • Validate seller-provided documents and flag inconsistencies or red flags
  • Perform valuation cross-checks using benchmarks (EBITDA multiples, revenue multiples, net profit multipliers, etc.)
  • Provide short summary reports or memos outlining key risks, opportunities, and financial interpretations
  • Assist in identifying areas for operational improvement or immediate cost savings post-acquisition
  • Occasionally collaborate with external accountants or lawyers involved in the deal

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, investment evaluation, or M&A due diligence
  • Strong understanding of Philippine accounting and taxation
  • Proficient in interpreting key financial documents (AFS, ITR, bank statements, general ledgers, etc.)
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to spot anomalies or inconsistencies
  • Comfortable building simple valuation models or ROI analysis using Excel/Google Sheets
  • Able to distill financial insights and make actionable recommendations to decision-makers
  • Bonus: Experience in small business acquisitions, franchise evaluations, or startup investing
  • Bonus: Familiarity with industry benchmarks (especially in F&B, service businesses, digital agencies)

  • Analytical and skeptical, but pragmatic — understands that not all books will be perfect
  • Able to work independently and remotely, with limited supervision
  • Experience working with founders, small businesses, or family-owned operations
  • Not just a number-cruncher — someone who can connect financials with real-world operations
