Steelman

A steelman, also known as a steel worker or rebarman, is a construction professional who fabricates, cuts, bends, and installs steel, particularly reinforcing bars (rebar), to build and reinforce concrete structures like beams, columns, and foundations.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpreting Blueprints:Reading construction drawings and specifications to understand the layout and dimensions of steel reinforcement.
• Steel Fabrication:Cutting, bending, and shaping steel bars to required lengths and specifications.
• Rebar Installation:Placing and securing steel bars within concrete forms using wire or ties to create reinforced structures.
• Structural Steel Erection:Connecting and installing steel frames, beams, and columns to form the framework of buildings and other structures.
• Tool & Equipment Operation:Operating tools such as metal shears, cutting torches, pliers, and bending machines.
• Quality Assurance:Ensuring all steel components are installed correctly and meet design and safety standards.
• Safety Compliance:Following safety regulations and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
• Team Collaboration:Working with other construction workers and trades to ensure timely and quality project completion.
