Radiology Aide is an integral part of the radiology department, providing essential support to radiologic technologists and other healthcare professionals. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the efficient operation of the Radiology Department by facilitating patient care, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients undergoing diagnostic imaging procedures. This position works with patients that Makati Life Medical Center (MLMC) serves; and helps develop, implement, and improve work systems to ensure smooth and efficient patient flow.
I. Patient education and interaction
· Ensure verification of physician's request, official receipt, and patient's information, such as patient's name and birthday, etc.
· Ensure all patient preparations are done and completed including creatinine with eGFR test, verifying allergies, and obtaining relevant medical history to avoid contraindications that may affect patients or the study.
· Transport patients to and from the radiology department, ensuring proper identification and documentation.
· Educate patients on pre-procedure and post-procedure instructions.
· Ensure patient comfort and safety.
· Participates in patient complaint investigations, resolution, and escalations.
· Maintain a calm and reassuring demeanor to alleviate patient anxiety.
II. Adherence to Safety Protocols
· Use radiation protection devices to ensure patient and team member's safety.
· Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in examination rooms and imaging equipment, following infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
· Participates in quality assurance control programs of the department and hospital.
III. Collaboration with the Healthcare Team
· Collaborate with radiographers, radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely imaging results.
· Provide support to radiologic technologists and other healthcare professionals as needed, including assisting with patient transfers and monitoring patient flow.
· Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to discuss complex cases and contribute to process flow and patient care plans.
· Coordinate with and assist with other imaging sections for more efficient workflow.
· Respond to emergencies and initiate calls for assistance. Escalate issues and problems to immediate superior and timely report incidents required by regulatory agencies and hospital policies.
IV. Record Keeping and Documentation
· Ensure compliance with regulatory and departmental documentation and certification standards.
· Maintain accurate patient records and uphold patient confidentiality.
· Record and endorse monitoring of consumables in the department.
· Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment needed for diagnostic imaging procedures, including stocking supplies, cleaning equipment, and ensuring adequate inventory levels.
· A daily census of all procedures must be recorded by the shift's end and endorsed to the next duty.
Others:
· Perform clerical duties, such as answering phones, and entering patient information into electronic medical records systems.
· Ensure adequate and complete supplies and needs of the section.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
