Position Title: Reefer Technician
Department: Engineering / Maintenance
Reports To: Operations Supervisor / Operations Manager
Location: Caticlan
Job Summary
The Reefer Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of refrigerated containers (reefers) to ensure they are in optimal working condition. The role ensures cargo integrity by maintaining proper temperature control and compliance with safety and quality standards at the Caticlan facility.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintenance & Repair
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of refrigerated containers (reefers).
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration-related issues.
- Ensure that temperature settings and control systems are functioning properly before dispatch.
2. Monitoring & Testing
- Perform routine checks on reefers, including pre-trip inspections.
- Monitor reefer performance during operations to prevent cargo spoilage.
- Record and maintain logs of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
3. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and company policies during repair and maintenance activities.
- Safeguard cargo integrity by ensuring accurate and reliable temperature control.
- Report any unsafe practices, equipment malfunctions, or incidents immediately.
4. Coordination & Support
- Coordinate with operations, logistics, and warehouse teams to ensure reefer availability and reliability.
- Assist in training staff on proper reefer handling and monitoring procedures.
- Support in procurement of spare parts and maintenance materials when required.
Qualifications
- Technical or vocational diploma in Refrigeration and Airconditioning, Electrical, or related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in reefer/container maintenance or similar refrigeration work.
- Knowledge in troubleshooting refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- TESDA NCII or equivalent certification in Refrigeration and Airconditioning (preferred).
- Ability to work in shifting schedules, including weekends and holidays.
- Physically fit and willing to be assigned on-site in Caticlan.
