PLC Operator monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots automated systems controlled by Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) in industrial settings.

Key responsibilities include ensuring equipment runs efficiently, performing routine inspections, adjusting control logic as needed, and collaborating with engineers to optimize processes. They are crucial for minimizing downtime and maintaining high production standards in manufacturing and processing environments. Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring & Maintenance:Oversee automated machinery, perform routine inspections, and execute preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Troubleshooting:Diagnose and resolve malfunctions in PLC systems to minimize operational downtime.
  • System Optimization:Analyze control logic and make adjustments to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Documentation:Create and maintain documentation, including wiring diagrams, functional specifications, and I/O configurations.
  • Collaboration:Work with electrical and mechanical engineers to integrate PLCs into larger control systems, such as SCADA and HMI interfaces.
  • Technical Support:Provide technical guidance to maintenance and operations teams on PLC system functionality and troubleshooting.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of PLC hardware, electrical systems, and control logic.
  • Programming Skills: Ability to program in various languages (e.g., ladder logic) and configure PLC systems.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy in programming and system validation.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical information clearly.

Work Environment

  • PLC Operators primarily work in manufacturing plants, industrial facilities, and processing plants.
  • They may also work in environments related to power generation, mining, and machine design.
