Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm NSW, AU Time or 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM PH Time

Holiday to follow: NSW, AU Holidays

Job Summary

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Rebar Specialist to join their Australian client in construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate and compliant rebar placing drawings (shop drawings), and Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) using the aSa CAD detailing system. This role requires an expert understanding of Australian building codes and structural documentation to ensure all projects meet the required structural integrity and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

· Interpretation of Engineering Documents: Read and interpret complex architectural and structural engineering drawings to determine rebar requirements (size, quantity, shape, spacing, and location) for various concrete structures (foundations, slabs, beams, columns, retaining walls, etc.).

· Rebar Detailing & Drawing Production: Produce detailed and accurate rebar placing drawings and shop drawings using the aSa CAD detailing software, ensuring all outputs are clear and practical for field personnel (steel fixers/placers).

· Bar Bending Schedules (BBS): Generate precise Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) and material lists (Bill of Materials) automatically through the aSa system, which will be used for fabrication, accounting, and invoicing.

· Standards & Compliance: Ensure all detailing work strictly adheres to relevant Australian building codes and standards (e.g., AS/NZS 4671, the National Construction Code).

· Collaboration and Communication: Liaise effectively with Australian clients, structural engineers, architects, and on-site project managers to discuss project progress, resolve discrepancies, and ensure seamless coordination between all stakeholders.

· Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough quality checks on own work and potentially mentor junior detailers, ensuring all drawings and schedules are error-free before client submission and approval.

· Project Management Support: Maintain organized project folders, track document versions, prepare transmittals, and provide regular reports on project status.

· Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry standards, software updates, and best practices in rebar detailing to drive efficiency and accuracy.

Required Qualifications & Skills

· Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of proven experience in rebar detailing or as a Rebar Specialist, preferably with a minimum of 3 years for Australian projects.

· Software Proficiency: Expert-level proficiency in aSa CAD detailing software is mandatory. Familiarity with other relevant construction software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) is an advantage.

· Australian Standards: In-depth knowledge and practical application of Australian Standards and building codes related to steel reinforcement and concrete structures.

· Technical Skills: Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and structural specifications. Excellent construction math skills.

· Communication: Fluent in English (written and verbal) with clear communication skills for effective remote collaboration with Australian teams.

· Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance, minimizing costly on-site errors and rework.

· Work Environment: Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a BPO or remote working environment, meeting deadlines consistently.

· Education: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or an equivalent field is highly desirable.
