Electrical Engineer

About the role

JFE Engineering Corp. Philippine Branch is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Metro Manila on a contract basis. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems and components, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our facilities.

What you'll be doing

1. Design & Engineering

1) Develop electrical system design such as single line diagrams and system layouts

2) Perform load calculations and power distribution analysis

3) Design concept document of lighting, grounding, and lightning protection systems for

subcon.

4) Create equipment installation details and specifications

5) Design cable routing and cable tray layouts

6) Prepare electrical room layouts and equipment arrangements

7) Prepare electrical BOQ for electrical works

8) Review and approve subcontractor's implementation electrical drawings with instrument

drawings.

9) Verify electrical system specifications and requirements

10) Review and approve vendor drawings and technical submissions

11) Survey of existing electrical facilities and confirmation of existing drawings

1. Vendor Management

1) Prepare and review Material Requisitions and Technical Specification for electrical

equipment

2) Review vendor technical proposals and provide technical evaluations

3) Participate in technical bid clarification meetings

4) Review vendor documentation including data sheets, drawings, and quality plans

5) Manage technical communication with vendors to finalize equipment specifications

6) Expedite vendor document submissions according to project schedule

7) Provide technical support during manufacturing and inspection stages

8) Evaluate technical capabilities of potential vendors

9) Prepare approval documents for client review and coordinate responses to client comments

10) Monitor manufacturing progress and testing activities coordinating with Procurement Team.

11) Participate in vendor qualification process

12) Review and develop equipment maintenance manuals

13) Review and develop equipment inspection procedures

14) Monitor vendor performance and compliance

15) Attend factory acceptance tests as required

1. Technical Communication & Client Interface

1) Respond to and resolve technical queries from client

2) Prepare technical clarification responses for client review comments

3) Document technical decisions and maintain communication records

4) Participate in client technical meetings and design reviews

5) Prepare technical deviation requests when required

6) Conduct regular site inspections to ensure proper installation

7) Monitor construction progress and quality control

1. Interdisciplinary Coordination

1) Lead technical coordination meetings with Civil, Process, Equipment, and Instrumentation

engineers

2) Coordinate electrical requirements with other disciplines

3) Review equipment locations for interference with other systems

4) Ensure proper integration of electrical systems with plant equipment

1. Construction Support & Commissioning

1) Review contractor's method statements and implementation procedures

2) Review and approve subcontractor's detailed design drawings and technical documents

3) Supervise testing and commissioning activities

4) Develop commissioning procedures and checklists

5) Verify installation quality and compliance

6) Review test results and commissioning reports

7) Prepare punch lists and follow up on completion

8) Support system handover activities

9) Support operator training programs

1. Documentation & Project Control

1) Prepare as-built documentation

2) Review O&M manuals from vendors

3) Develop and maintain project schedules for electrical deliverables

4) Identify potential risks and propose mitigation strategies

5) Report critical technical issues promptly with proposed solutions

6) Track and report KPIs related to electrical engineering activities

What we're looking for

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1) Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

2) Professional Electrical Engineer license

3) Minimum 10 years experience in industrial plant electrical systems

4) Strong knowledge of international electrical codes and standards

5) Experience with medium voltage power distribution systems

6) Knowledge of Philippine Electrical Code & Standards

7) Fluent business level of verbal and written communication skills in English

8) Strong personality, positive attitude and ability to work under pressure

9) Experience in coordination with other engineering disciplines

10) Strong background in electrical system design and specification

11) Experience in vendor technical evaluation and management

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

1) Proficiency in electrical system design

2) Experience with power system analysis software

3) Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or E-Tap

4) Knowledge of international equipment standards and specifications

5) Understanding of testing and commissioning procedures

6) Familiarity with quality control requirements

7) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

8) Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1) Experience in wastewater treatment plant projects

2) Experience in managing offshore design teams

3) Familiarity with EPC project execution
