The ChemTech is responsible for conducting laboratory analyses, developing and improving chemical processes, and ensuring product quality, safety, and compliance with local and international standards. The role works closely with R&D, quality assurance, regulatory, production, and environmental teams to support innovation and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Laboratory Analysis & Testing

  • Perform chemical, physical, and instrumental analyses of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
  • Conduct standard tests (pH, viscosity, titration, spectrophotometry, chromatography, etc.).
  • Document and interpret results with accuracy and precision.
  • Product & Process Development
  • Assist in research and development of new chemical products, formulations, or processes.
  • Support scale-up from lab testing to pilot and full production runs.
  • Recommend improvements in formulations, yield, or cost efficiency.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure all products meet quality and safety standards (FDA Philippines, DENR, ISO, ASTM, etc.).
  • Maintain compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Conduct stability studies, shelf-life testing, and validation of methods.
  • Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)
  • Implement safe laboratory and plant practices (handling of hazardous chemicals, waste management, PPE).
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
  • Assist in environmental monitoring and sustainability initiatives.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks, test records, and SOPs.
  • Prepare technical reports and certificates of analysis (COA).
  • Support regulatory submissions and audits.
  • Cross-Functional Support
  • Collaborate with production to troubleshoot chemical process issues.
  • Work with purchasing for raw material specifications and supplier validation.
  • Provide technical support to marketing and sales on product specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemical Technology, or related field.
  • Licensed Chemist or Chemical Technician (PRC) preferred, as required by law in the Philippines.
  • Strong knowledge of analytical chemistry, instrumentation, and laboratory procedures.
  • Familiarity with GLP, GMP, ISO 17025, HACCP (if food-related), and other relevant standards.
  • Proficient in laboratory instruments such as UV-Vis, HPLC, GC, AAS, FTIR, etc.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
