Position Summary

The Outpatient Profee Medical Coder is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and assigning the correct ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for professional (profee) outpatient encounters. This role ensures accurate coding to support compliant billing, reimbursement, and clinical data integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review medical records for outpatient services to assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes.
  • Ensure coding accuracy in accordance with official guidelines, payer-specific requirements, and facility policies.
  • Work collaboratively with providers and billing teams to resolve coding-related queries or discrepancies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding regulations, compliance standards, and payer policies.
  • Participate in coding audits and implement corrective actions as needed.

Qualifications

  • Certification as CPC, COC, CCS-P, or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years of outpatient coding experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills.
