ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer to take long-term ownership of our internal business systems.

Our core system is built on Google AppSheet and supports 20+ daily internal users. In the short term, you will own, stabilise, and extend this system. Over time, you will help design integrations and guide the gradual transition of selected components into custom-built software where it makes sense.

This is an ownership-driven role focused on building and evolving a core internal system, with selective full-stack development rather than high-volume feature churn.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own, maintain, and extend a complex, multi-table AppSheet system used across the business
  • Develop Google Apps Script and backend services where custom logic or automation is required
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable web applications with strong performance and user experience
  • Act as the long-term System Owner, responsible for architecture, reliability, and technical direction
  • Develop and maintain APIs and backend services
  • Implement secure, efficient file and data storage using AWS S3
  • Manage, optimise, and maintain PostgreSQL databases
  • Collaborate with UX/UI, DevOps, and QA to deliver reliable, high-quality systems
  • Integrate AI-driven features or models to improve functionality and user outcomes
  • Diagnose and resolve full-stack issues while maintaining clean, testable, well-structured code
  • Contribute to Agile development processes and use Git for version control

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years' experience in full-stack development or system ownership roles
  • Proven experience building and maintaining complex internal tools or platforms
  • Strong proficiency with APIs, backend logic, and data modelling
  • Experience working with low-code / no-code platforms (such as AppSheet) as part of a broader system architecture
  • Experience building or integrating client portals with CMS platforms (e.g. Squarespace or similar)
  • Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL or equivalent)
  • Strong JavaScript skills and comfort working across front-end and backend layers
  • Ability to work independently, think in systems, and make pragmatic technical decisions
  • Clear English communication skills and comfort collaborating with non-technical stakeholders

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

First 1 months

  • Full understanding of existing AppSheet architecture
  • System stabilised and trusted by the team
  • Founder no longer involved in day-to-day system maintenance

6-12 months

  • API or external integrations implemented where needed
  • Clear roadmap for hybrid or custom system development
  • System scales with the business

WORK SETUP & REQUIREMENTS

  • Full-time, remote role
  • Candidate must provide their own computer (desktop)
  • Stable internet connection required
  • Must be available during agreed working hours aligned with the team
  • The applicant must be willing to be on google zoom video call during work hours for monitoring and accountability
