Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to support the installation, testing, and commissioning of an Advanced Visual Guidance Docking System (AVGDS) at NAIA T1, T2, T3. The engineer will oversee mechanical installation activities, ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver a reliable and efficient aircraft docking solution.


Key Responsibilities

Installation & Commissioning

  • Supervise and execute the mechanical installation of AVGDS equipment, including mounting frames, display units, support structures, and cabling conduits.
  • Ensure mechanical systems are installed according to design drawings, manufacturer requirements, and airport regulations.
  • Support alignment and calibration of docking guidance units to meet operational accuracy standards.
  • Collaborate with electrical, civil, and software teams during integration and commissioning phases.

Technical Oversight

  • Review mechanical design documents, installation manuals, and technical specifications.
  • Perform site inspections and verify mechanical tolerances, fastenings, and anchoring methods.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues during installation and testing stages.
  • Ensure compliance with ICAO, IATA, and airport authority standards for airside systems.

Health, Safety & Quality

  • Enforce adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards during all mechanical works.
  • Conduct risk assessments and prepare method statements for installation activities.
  • Maintain detailed records of installation progress, inspection reports, and punch lists.

Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise with the airport operations team, system suppliers, and contractors to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Participate in progress meetings and report mechanical installation status to the project manager.
  • Support training and handover documentation for maintenance personnel.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. (Licensed Mechanical Engineer preferred)

Experience:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mechanical installation of airside systems, industrial automation, or similar infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working in airport environments or aviation projects is preferred.
  • Familiarity with AVGDS or ground support equipment systems is an asset.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical design, mounting systems, and structural supports.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
  • Knowledge of relevant standards (ISO, ICAO Annex 14, IATA AHM).
  • Basic understanding of electrical and control systems integration.

  • Work Environment: Primarily airside; must comply with airport safety and access requirements.
