Commvault Specialist

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Commvault Specialist / Backup & Storage Engineer to manage and optimize enterprise backup and storage environments. The ideal candidate will ensure reliable data protection, system performance, and seamless recovery operations across complex IT infrastructures.

Skills Required:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience managing Commvault backup and recovery solutions in enterprise or MSP environments
• Strong understanding of storage systems, data centre infrastructure, and backup technologies
• Proven experience performing backup validation, restore, and recovery testing
• Proficiency in Windows Server and Linux environments, with solid troubleshooting and performance optimization skills
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills in high-availability IT environments
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across IT infrastructure and operations teams
• Experience documenting configurations, incidents, and operational procedures for audit and continuity purposes

Nice to Have:

• Hands-on experience in Commvault implementation, upgrade, or migration projects
• Exposure to cloud-based backup solutions (Azure Backup, AWS S3/Glacier, Google Cloud)
• Familiarity with multi-tenant or MSP backup environments
• Knowledge of network and security fundamentals related to data transfer and backup reliability
• Certifications such as Commvault Certified Professional, VMware VCP, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator

What will you do? Backup & Recovery Operations

• Administer and maintain Commvault environments to ensure consistent performance and system availability
• Execute daily backup scheduling, monitoring, and validation tasks
• Troubleshoot and resolve backup or restore issues to maintain high system uptime and data integrity

Implementation & Infrastructure Support

• Support Commvault deployments, configuration updates, and system upgrades
• Collaborate with IT, storage, and infrastructure teams on data migration and disaster recovery initiatives

System Optimization & Documentation

• Maintain up-to-date documentation for backup policies, recovery procedures, and system configurations
• Conduct restore testing and data validation in line with disaster recovery and compliance policies
• Recommend and implement best practices to enhance backup performance and efficiency

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with infrastructure, cloud, and security teams to ensure alignment with overall IT strategy
• Provide technical insights and support during audits, upgrades, and platform improvements

Tech Stack / Tools:

• Backup & Recovery: Commvault (primary), Veeam, Veritas NetBackup
• Storage Platforms: Dell EMC, NetApp, HPE, Pure Storage
• Operating Systems: Windows Server, Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
• Virtualization: VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V
• Cloud Platforms: Azure, AWS (S3 / Glacier), Google Cloud Platform
• Monitoring & Ticketing: ServiceNow, SolarWinds, Zabbix
• Networking Fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, Firewalls (for connectivity troubleshooting)
