Accountant

As part of our continued expansion we are seeking an Accountant (IC2-G4) to join our growing team on a permanent basis located in United States of America.

Working under the guidance of the Group Controller, the Accountant will have primary responsibility for the preparation of monthly management accounts, sales tax returns and other reporting and accounting tasks for the US Company within the Group. As part of our finance department this role will work closely with the Group Financial Controller and other finance staff to provide an efficient shared finances function to the wider organization.

The Role

As an Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing the monthly management accounts, including production of trial balance, general ledger maintenance and preparation of supporting schedules.
  • Key processing to perform for the preparation of the management accounts include:
  • Preparation, posting and reconciliation of accruals, prepayments and accrued interest
  • Updating and reconciliation of all intercompany accounts following the posting of any transactions
  • Production of reports and other analysis as required by management
  • Maintenance of fixed asset register, depreciation posting and reconciliation.
  • Reviewing and analyzing of the management accounts to confirm amounts are as per expectations compared to forecast and previous periods and providing detailed variance analysis.
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts in accordance with Accounting Standards (US GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards).
  • Assisting in production of month-end and year-end financial statements in accordance with supporting documentation
  • Preparation and filing of US Sales tax returns, including reconciliation back to financial statements.
  • Supporting the maintenance of the US tax system, Avalara to support US sales tax compliance.
  • Working as part of a global team to ensure that all accounting processes are documented, efficient, consistently and competently performed so all monthly management accounts are prepared on an accurate and timely basis.
  • Providing direct support to Manager and Director of Finance where required

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role in a Finance Department and strong accounting background.
  • Minimum of 3 years end to end month end close process experience and US Sales tax filing experience.
  • Hold a relevant Accounting Qualification
  • Experience of accounting software packages (knowledge of Sage Intacct would be valuable but not required), with proven ability to learn new software packages.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products, primarily Excel (Pivot tables, V lookup, etc.)
  • Good organizational skills with strong ability to multi-task and keen attention to detail with large data sets.
  • Plans and prioritizes work effectively and ensures deadlines are met and communicates effectively when there is an issue preventing a deadline from being met.
  • Proactive approach to issue resolution and follow up.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
