Duties and responsibilities of a clerk.
Administrative Support
- Ensure proper documentation of patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Answer telephones and direct calls to the appropriate department or staff.
- Relay messages between healthcare providers, patients, and families.
- Coordinate with other departments for patient care services.
- Generate reports related to patient care or unit activity.
- Monitor and order supplies such as medical forms, stationery, and equipment.
- Organize and maintain the nursing station.
- Assist with the administrative processes for patient admissions and discharges.
- Prepare required documentation for patient transfers or referrals.
- Welcome patients and visitors to the unit.
- Provide non-clinical assistance to patients and families, such as directions or information about hospital policies.
- Respond to inquiries from patients and families within the scope of their role.
- Follow hospital and healthcare regulations, including those related to confidentiality.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, ensuring adherence to hygiene protocols.
