Duties and responsibilities of a clerk.

Administrative Support

  • Ensure proper documentation of patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Answer telephones and direct calls to the appropriate department or staff.
  • Relay messages between healthcare providers, patients, and families.
  • Coordinate with other departments for patient care services.
  • Generate reports related to patient care or unit activity.
  • Monitor and order supplies such as medical forms, stationery, and equipment.
  • Organize and maintain the nursing station.
  • Assist with the administrative processes for patient admissions and discharges.
  • Prepare required documentation for patient transfers or referrals.
  • Welcome patients and visitors to the unit.
  • Provide non-clinical assistance to patients and families, such as directions or information about hospital policies.
  • Respond to inquiries from patients and families within the scope of their role.
  • Follow hospital and healthcare regulations, including those related to confidentiality.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, ensuring adherence to hygiene protocols.
